Bustin’ Makes Me Feel Good
In 1984 the world welcomed two major additions to American comedy. The first would obviously be my birth, which occurred one cool Spring evening. A few months later the world was introduced to Ivan Reitman’s masterpiece, Ghostbusters. This year of our Lord and Savior Jesus Cristo 2009 finds itself to be the 25th Anniversaries of both such occasions. Unlike many, many, many of the posts before this I am not here to write about myself – I am here to discuss the joy of Ghostbusters.
That Damn Fishtank
By the time you read this, Tom and I will have moved. That is right; our home base, lovingly dubbed The SocioDome, has changed locations! We have relocated from the city of Brighton to the far away land of… Brighton, but across the street. Alright, it’s not a major move, but it is a major [...]
El Fifth de May
6 pm: Okay, it’s 6 pm, outta work, and it’s Cinco de Mayo, which I believe is the day that Mexico commemorates the first time someone sucked the sweet, sweet nectar from the Agave plant. “Mexico,” of course, in the same sense that “Ireland” celebrates St. Patrick’s Day – namely, thousands of college kids across [...]
The Sneaker Saga
Through most of my teenage years, the only types of footwear I had were sandals, snow/work boots, hiking boots, dress shoes, and anything sport-specific I needed (cleats for baseball, etc). I had one pair of each, most of which were in my closet. The hiking boots were what I wore day-in, day-out, as they were [...]
I Confess My Crimes
Dear Powers That Be, My name is not important. This letter is not a matter of who I am, but what I have done. I am here to confess my deeds in the hopes that they will not longer weigh down upon my soul. I am a criminal. That may come as a surprise to [...]
A Day of Writer’s Block
When I originally sat down to write a post for this week, I found myself having trouble with it. Not legal trouble (I don’t think the Law knows we exist), not girl trouble (the ladies love me), and not monetary trouble (I totally rocked the slots a few weeks back). I had idea trouble. Trouble [...]
Barry Dom 2: The Camping Trip (of Doom)
If you’re unfamiliar with our friend, Barry Dom, go see his first Halloween adventure for an introduction. he car bumped along the dirt road strewn with rocks, creating nothing more than a soothing rocking sensation for Barry Dom. He was stretched out a bit in the far back of the station wagon, half asleep on [...]
Kindly Tales of the Workplace
Mike vs. Dog Lady, Tourette’s Guy, and Smelly-Looking Man I will talk now about three distinct customers. I’ve never had to deal with them at once, but there wasn’t enough material for each of them for a single tale. Plus, all of them are clearly ill in some way, mentally or otherwise, so I’d feel [...]
Cordial Tales of the Workplace
“Boogie-woogie†So, there’s this dude, his name is Freddie. He comes into Stop & Shop on a fairly regular basis. Apparently he gets around Rhode Island, as Drunken Dan has encountered him as well, but he’ll get into that. Freddie is a vet of the Korean war. We think. His back-story is how, shall we [...]
Papa Tom’s Happy Holiday Hobo Guide Part Uno
Hi there kids! Gather ’round, and listen up, whilst I tell you a tale from the depths of my encyclopedic knowledge on all things nonsense. Today, we’ll be talking about hobos. As you’re wandering around the streets, going from store to store, covering yourself in fancy scarves and coats while looking for that perfect, unique [...]
